God Himself scattered people by language (Gen. 11), and the promised land of Israel had definite borders, as did its surrounding nations.
I also want to prophetically state that there is another choice coming. God has a third Supreme Court justice to be put into place within the next four years, and I believe this will be even as important, or possibly more so, than what we are looking at right now.
So how should believers respond?
Since the United States' founding, God has kept blessing the nation. There's a reason.
As we celebrate this Independence Day, let the history of our nation's founding remind us to be vigilant to think, pray and vote according to our Christian faith.
"Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand."
America's founders held no such grandiose view of themselves or any human being, and they had rejected the theocratic claims of popes, bishops, and monarchs. They had not, however, rejected Christianity.
Through heritage, we retain hope and through hope, we maintain the hunger to thrive.
After King David established his capital in Jerusalem, he prayed, "Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build the walls of Jerusalem (Ps. 51:18)—God's blessing would include strong walls!
The aspiration of this declaration is the yearning of every human heart, and it is now being expressed in a sacred space by the spoons these young women are carrying.
Unfortunately, most Americans have been trained not to think about these things since the end of the first Cold War, and that could end up being an absolutely fatal mistake.
For those who view reality through the grid of Scripture, the picture is clear, vivid and colorful. For those who don't, the view becomes incoherent, distorted and dark.
If the executive order survives the courts, it will undoubtedly be more compassionate than previous policies, which enticed parents and other adults attempting illegal crossings to subject children to the dangers of the desert, the division of families and even death.
So now we face a very uncertain future, and it is only a matter of time before someone lights a spark that sets off mass societal unrest all across the United States.
For too long, we have put a Band-Aid on our immigration system. Republicans and Democrats must quit using family, an institution God created, as pawns for their benefit and instead put aside their differences and fix this broken system before it is too late.
The Dallas mayor just demonstrated that he wants to sever America from its Christian past.
Some think all the government does is ordained by God and to go against the government is to go against God. If that is the case, abortion, a government-approved and funded practice, should be OK. That is horrible theology and even worse practice.
Don't break the law, or you risk the consequences. But we can do everything legally in our power to get a law changed that is uncaring or discompassionate.
Without question, there needs to be an honest and thoughtful debate on who should be permanently allowed to immigrate into our country and under what conditions.
God brought forth America for a special purpose, and that purpose is not yet fulfilled.
When you see how dark things are in North Korea, you realize what a miracle it is that its dictator is changing.
