Spirit-Filled Pastor: 'There is a Cost to Revival'

When speaking at the recent Turning Point USA Faith event in San Diego, Calif., Pastor Shane Idleman made this eye-opening statement for not only pastors, but the entire body of Christ:

"Pastors, without boldness and brokenness, we will accomplish little. Leonard Ravenhill once said, 'You must weep before you whip.'"

Idleman is obviously looking forward to a Great Awakening in the body in the near future, but he says revival won't come without a cost and that believers must surrender to the Cross to bring about such a revival.

"If it took praying and fasting to get the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, let me submit to you that it's going to take prayer, fasting, brokenness and humility to maintain it," Idleman says. "Don't fall into the trap that 'God can't use me.' Seek the heart of God and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

"People call me political. I preach the gospel and I stand up for difficult things. If you stand up for the truth, you will be political. Get over it. That's a badge of honor. Politics just means leading a group or governing people. God's Word has plenty to say about that. ... We want to make a difference in our culture, but you have to have boldness and humility."
